Statkraft entered the Turkish market in 2009 through the acquisition of 95% of Yesil Enerji and its portfolio of hydro power projects. In 2010 the remaining 5% was acquired and Yesil Enerji was renamed Statkraft Enerji.
The 20 MW hydro power project Cakit was completed in 2010. The construction of the 102 MW Kargi hydro power project started in 2011 and the plant will be in operation by the end of 2013. The investment decision for 517 MW Cetin hydro power project was made in September 2011, and the plant is planned to be in operation by 2015. The three plants have a total annual generation of approximately 2 TWh.
Statkraft’s main office in Turkey is located in Istanbul with project offices in Osmancik in Corum province (Kargi) and Siirt in Siirt province(Cetin). In addition, the Cakit plant is operated from Karaisali in Adana province.
