The power markets in South-East European countries have developed very rapidly during the past few years. General economic restructuring, European perspective and establishment of a so-called Energy Community of SEE within the Athens process are main driving factors for further development of the energy sector.
In November 2006 Statkraft South East Europe EOOD obtained a license for trading with Electric energy in Bulgaria.
The main business tasks of the subsidiary are:
Maintaining of infrastructure and documents for carrying out power trading activities: licenses, permits, frame contracts
Technical infrastructure development – software and hardware, according to the Bulgarian grid operator ESO requirements
Introducing Statkraft to the main market players in South-East European countries
Consulting and training of trading partners with regard to their participation on the liberalized energy markets
Support of the Statkraft activities related to the emission trading and green certificate markets in the region
Development of projects for production of power from renewable energy sources like Wind, Hydro, PV, Gas and Biomass
Studies and participation in projects for upgrading and modernization of existing power plants and acquisition of environmentally friendly energy plants
