The very good progress of the liberalization of the Romanian power and gas markets make the country attractive for investment and trading. The combination of geographical location of Romania and the ambitious plans for development of the power sector of the country is a good precondition for cross-border trading and access the markets of all neighboring countries.
In May 2007 The Romanian energy regulator ANRE granted Statkraft Romania S.R.L with a license for trading and supply with Electric energy.
The main business tasks of the subsidiary:
Maintaining of infrastructure and documents for carrying out power trading activities: licenses, permits, frame contracts
Technical infrastructure development – software and hardware, according to the Romania power market operator OPCOM and the Grid Operator TRANSELECTRICA requirements
Development of greenfield projects for utilization of Wind/Hydro/Gas and other renewable resources for production of power
Performing of studies and direct participation in projects for upgrading and modernization of existing power plants and acquisition of environmentally friendly energy plants
Introducing Statkraft to the main market players in Romania and other South-East European countries
Consulting and training of trading partners with regard to their participation on the liberalized energy markets
Support of the Statkraft activities related to the emission trading and green certificate markets in the region
