At the beginning of 2009, Statkraft took over the run-of-river hydropower plant in Wahnhausen in Lower Saxony in Germany from E.ON. The plant, which is located along the Fulda River, was commissioned in 1980 and has a generating capacity of 4.0 MW.
The yearly average electricity generation amounts to approximately 22 GWh. The Wahnhausen plant consists of one Kaplan turbine and is operated from the run-of-river hydropower plant Werrawerk.
The central control room for monitoring the run-of-river hydropower plants is located in the pumped storage power plant Erzhausen.
