Jostedal is a hydropower plant in Luster Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane County.
Ownership: 100 %
Production: 874 GWh
Power: 290 MW
The power plant uses the height of fall from Lake Styggevatnet to the Jostedalselva River. The reservoirs lie at the foot of the Jostedalsbreen glacier.
Lake Styggevatn is regulated between 1200 and 1110 metres above sea level, and the dam on the lake is 55 metres high. The reservoir capacity is approx. 350 million cubic metres.
Lake Kuppvannet is also a reservoir for the power plant, and is regulated between 1263 and 1190 metres above sea level.
Water is also collected from several stream intakes.
The power plant started production in 1990. The total height of fall from Lake Styggevatn to the power station is 1186 metres. After the water is used in the power plant, it is led in a long outlet tunnel to Sognefjord. The installed capacity is 290 MW.
