The gas-fired power plant at Kårstø in Tysvær Municipality in Rogaland County has an installed capacity of 430 MW, enabling a production of up to 3.5 TWh of electricity annually.

The plant was built by Naturkraft, owned 50/50 by Statoil and Statkraft, in connection with the existing gas treatment plant at Kårstø. The energy recovery rate for the power plant is 58-60 per cent and among the best in Europe. Naturkraft has facilitated future cleaning of CO2 emissions from the gas power plant. The plant was completed in the autumn of 2007.
