In 2008 Statkraft took the initiative to organize the first Osmosis Membrane Summit in Amsterdam. During this event scientists, engineers, manufacturers and operators assembled to exchange information and experience in the areas of PRO and FO. This laid the groundwork for an international cooperation to bring the technologies from the research labs to commercial utilization.
In 2010 the event was repeated in cooperation with AMTA (American Membrane Technology Association) and this time also regulators, planners and investors were included as participants. This meeting confirmed that during the two years since the first summit, considerable progress had been made in developing the technologies.
