    (Oslo, 10 November 2011) In the third quarter, Statkraft achieved an underlying1 operating profit before depreciation (EBITDA) of NOK 1751 million, compared with NOK 1830 million in the corresponding quarter last year. The underlying operating profit after depreciation (EBIT) of NOK 1188 million was on a par with last year. As a result of unrealised changes in value and write-downs, the posted result after tax was a loss of NOK 1583 million, compared with a profit of NOK 1163 million in the third quarter of 2010.

  • Statkraft signs power contract with the new RHI Normag factory at Herøya

    (Oslo, 9 November 2011) Statkraft and RHI Normag AS have signed a long-term power contract for the new factory for melting magnesium oxide (MgO) which is under construction at Herøya. Statkraft will also be delivering energy services to the factory.

  • Smøla wind farm reopen to the general public

    As of Friday Smøla wind farm will again be open to the general public. For safety reasons, the wind farm was temporarily closed on 11 October when a fracture was discovered in one of the towers. The risk of a breakdown has been averted and it is now safe to access the wind farm.

  • Smøla wind farm closed to the public

    Damage has been discovered in the tower of one of the wind turbines in the oldest part of Smøla wind farm. The 20 wind turbines from construction stage 1 were immediately stopped for inspection. Five of the turbines have been inspected today. No damage was found and the turbines have resumed operation. For safety reasons, the wind farm has been temporarily closed for access to the general public.

  • Statkraft lays foundation for second gas-fired power plant in Hürth Knapsack

    Hürth-Knapsack, 30 September 2011 – At a groundbreaking ceremony, Statkraft, Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy, today announced the start of construction of a second combined gas and steam turbine power plant (CCPP) at the Hürth Knapsack site. In addition to representatives of the company, State Secretary Jochen Homann from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Marc Jan Eumann, Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media of North Rhine Westphalia, also attended the ceremony.

  • Statkraft to build its third hydropower plant in Turkey

    Statkraft has decided to construct the Cetin hydropower plant in Turkey. The power plant will be Statkraft’s largest hydropower plant outside Norway, with an installed capacity of 517 MW. Cetin will have an average annual production of 1.4 TWh, enough to supply electricity to 460,000 Turkish homes. The investment cost is estimated to about EUR 500 million.

  • Statkraft to build several wind farms in Sweden

    (Oslo/Stockholm, 18 August 2011) Statkraft has decided to build Stamåsen 1 wind farm in Sweden. This means that from September, Statkraft will have two large wind farms under construction in Central Sweden, strengthening its position as the largest player in renewable energy in Europe. The wind farm will be established in cooperation with SCA and will be completed with a capacity of 60 MW next year.
