Construction to start in Turkey
Both the main contracts are now in place for construction to commence at the Kargi power plant, Statkraft’s second hydropower plant in Turkey. The facility will generate 470 GWh of eco-friendly energy annually, enough to supply 150,000 Turkish households.
Parliament adopted strengthened equity for Statkraft
On Wednesday 15 December, the Norwegian parliament, the Storting, decided to strengthen Statkraft’s equity with NOK 14 billion.
Statkraft saving energy

The UK is the world’s largest offshore wind energy nation
The UK has now developed more offshore wind energy than the rest of the world combined. In 2013, Britain will produce more electricity from renewable energy than from nuclear power – and Statkraft is contributing to this.
MPE and Statkraft launches energy report in Norway

British Energy Minister met with Statkraft CEO
Charles Hendry, Britsh Minister of State for Energy and Climate, attended the ONS fair in Stavanger this week. During his visit, Mr. Hendry discussed the development of offshore wind energy in the UK, where Statkraft is very much involved. Mr. Hendry met with President and CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen, and gave a speech during Statkraft’s offshore wind energy seminar ”Pure energy for more people” on Wednesday 25 August.

SN Power is launching new web pages. This is part of a new look, with a new logo and the same visual appearance in the countries where SN Power is represented.
Statkraft takes over Smøla II
On Wednesday, 25 August, Statkraft will take over operation of Stage II of the Smøla wind farm, which until now has been operated by Siemens. From this date, Statkraft will operate all 68 wind turbines in the Smøla wind farm.
Young bearer of traditions presented with talent award
Trombone player and band leader Kristoffer Kompen was awarded this year’s Young Star scholarship of NOK 50,000. He was presented with the award during the Oslo Jazz Festival on Friday 20 August. The award is financed by Statkraft.
Salt in San Diego
This summer’s membrane conference in San Diego, held by Statkraft’s osmotic power team, was a huge success, with more than 100 participants from industry and research communities working to develop membranes for osmotic power and clean water production – and there was substantial interest in Statkraft’s experiences from the osmotic power plant at Tofte.

Sea eagle research at Smøla wind farm
(Oslo, 17 June 2010) Extensive research is being carried out at the Smøla wind farm to prevent sea eagles crashing from flying into wind turbines. So far this year, ten dead sea eagles have been recovered at the wind farm. The sea eagle population on Smøla is, however, robust and has increased since the construction of the wind farm.
