Britain’s Energy Minister to meet with Statkraft CEO
Charles Hendry, Great Britain’s Minister of State for Energy and Climate, will attend the ONS fair in Stavanger this week. During his visit, Mr. Hendry will discuss the development of offshore wind energy in the UK, where Statkraft is very much involved. Mr. Hendry will meet with President and CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen, and give a speech during Statkraft’s offshore wind energy seminar ”Pure energy for more people” on Wednesday 25 August.
Statkraft awards NOK 5 million to climate and development projects
(Oslo, 19. august 2010) Statkraft has awarded a total of NOK 5 million to Norwegian Church Aid, the Science Centre of Northern Norway, the Norwegian Red Cross, Renewable World and the Ny Ålesund Symposium. The donation takes place through the Statkraft Fund.
Good six months and a satisfactory second quarter for Statkraft
Following all-time high result in the first quarter of 2010, the result for the second quarter was slightly lower. Underlying profit before tax in the second quarter ended at NOK 2311 million compared with NOK 2295 million in the second quarter of 2009. Statkraft's underlying operating profit amounted to NOK 1119 million in the second quarter, compared with NOK 1420 million in the second quarter of 2009. The result is as expected and mainly reflects normal seasonal variations.
Svein Aaser named new chairman of Statkraft
(Oslo, 30 June 2010) Today, Svein Aaser was elected by the general meeting to serve as new chair on the Statkraft AS board of directors. Inge Ryan and Silvija Seres were elected to serve as new members on the board. Arvid Grundekjøn, Hilde M. Tonne and Bertil (Pertti) Tiusanen are stepping down from the board.
Elkem becomes one of Statkraft’s largest industrial customers
(Oslo, 28 June 2010) Norske Skog today announced the resale of 1.5 TWh of energy annually from 2011 to 2020 to Elkem. The agreement will make Elkem one of Statkraft’s largest industrial customers, and Statkraft will continue to deliver 2 TWh annually to Norske Skog.
Statkraft focuses growth strategy and changes in corporate management
(Oslo, 18 June 2010) Statkraft is focusing its strategy to strengthen emphasis on the group’s core competence within flexible and renewable energy generation. Hilde Bakken, Steinar Bysveen and Øistein Andresen are new members of the corporate management team.
Statkraft powering Turkish homes
(Istanbul/Oslo, 3 June 2010) Statkraft will make its first deliveries of clean and self-made hydropower to the Turkish market this week. The Cakit power plant is Statkraft’s first in the country, and it is expected that Turkish demand for energy will double by 2020. Statkraft has plans for more and larger hydropower plants in Turkey.
TrønderEnergi purchases Trondheim Energi Nett
(Trondheim 20 May 2010) TrønderEnergi and Trondheim Energi, which is owned by Statkraft, have completed negotiations for a takeover of Trondheim Energi Nett. The agreement means that TrønderEnergi is purchasing 100 per cent of the shares in the company for about NOK 900 million.
More young people want to work in Statkraft
(Oslo, 6 May 2010) More and more young people with college and university degrees would like to work in Statkraft. According to a Universum survey, newly educated engineers rank Statkraft as the fifth most attractive employer when applying for a job. Also economists are discovering Statkraft, ranking the company as no. 17 of the most attractive employers.
Statkraft upgrades renewable power generation in Norway
(Oslo, 18 March 2010) Statkraft has decided to spend more than NOK 1 billion upgrading hydropower facilities. In western Norway, the new power plants Eiriksdal and Makkoren will replace older facilities, while Nedre Røssåga power plant in northern Norway will be modernised.
Statkraft opens first solar park in Italy - announces agreement for more solar parks
(Rome, 11 March 2010) Today, Norwegian power generator Statkraft opens its first solar power plant, Casale in Aprilia, Italy. Statkraft also announces an agreement with Siemens Energy to build more solar power plants in Italy.
Acceptable result in spite of lower prices
(Oslo, 18 February 2010) Lower power prices and reduced production in Norway resulted in Statkraft's underlying (1) operating profit for 2009 falling to NOK 9947 million (NOK 12 029 million) (2), and to NOK 3770 million in the fourth quarter (NOK 4072 million). The underlying profit before tax amounted to NOK 10 654 million (NOK 11 960 million), and NOK 3986 million in the fourth quarter (NOK 3541 million).
More wind power licenses gained in the UK
(Oslo, 26 January 2010) Since 1 January 2010, Statkraft has received two new licenses for development of wind power in the UK – in addition to the rights to develop the offshore wind power zone on the Dogger Bank off the coast of England. Today, Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske is participating in a presentation of Statkraft to British businesses in London.
Awarded wind contract for Dogger Bank
The Crown Estate has announced that the Forewind consortium, comprising Statkraft, Statoil, SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy) and RWE npower has been named as the successful bidder for the largest zone in the third licence round (Round 3) for UK offshore wind farms, Dogger Bank.
SN Power's Totoral wind farm inaugurated today
SN Power inaugurated today its first wind farm, located outside the town of Canela, near 300 kilometers north of the Chilean capital Santiago. The Totoral wind farm is expected to generate an annual average of 110 GWh of electricity to the Chilean central grid, enough to fulfill the needs of around 50 000 Chilean households.
