“The expertise and commitment of our staff are our most important assets for creating value," remarked President and CEO Bård Mikkelsen. He emphasised how important it is – now that we are also acquiring new businesses, whether in Norway or abroad – for employees to feel that they are joining an exciting group where they can build on their previous experience and further develop what Statkraft stands for.

"I am keen that all employees, including our new employees, regard us as an inclusive organisation based on equality and respect, remarked President and CEO Bård Mikkelsen.
How do your ambitions look in concrete terms?
"We want to continue to grow within our key areas of hydropower and gas power and other renewable sources in Europe. We are taking a major step forward in both Sweden and Germany through a swap deal with E.ON AG. This will provide the basis for further growth both in these and other European countries. We will align our work initiatives very closely to the targets that the EU has set to combat climate challenges in the years leading up to 2020. The EU has set targets of 20 percent renewable energy, a 20 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and 20 percent energy savings. We wish to contribute solutions in all three areas. More renewable energy, more and new technologies that can help reduce emissions, and we will also gradually do even more in the field of energy optimisation.
In what ways do you think Statkraft is a good place to work?
"I am keen that all employees, including our new employees, regard us as an inclusive organisation based on equality and respect. Everyone shall strongly feel that they are part of a team that will achieve the company's demanding targets and ambitions.
It is also important that the values we stand for agree with the values our employees want to identify with. The main keywords are competence, responsibility and innovation. Statkraft’s motto is “pure energy”, and we contribute to sustainable development through environment-friendly energy solutions. I hope that all our employees will feel very comfortable with these values.
Several new employees will join Statkraft as a result of the swap deal with E.ON. What is your view on this?
"Our employees form the basis for our success. I am glad that our team is growing, and look forward to receiving employees with important and exciting expertise from several European countries. Once the letter of intent is signed in the new year, it will be clear which facilities and resources we are actually dealing with. The process of transferring ownership will then start. We are extremely keen to secure the continued efficient operation of the facilities we are acquiring, and we will use a lot of time and resources to guarantee this. I hope that the employees see this as an exciting opportunity. We are an expanding company that needs several new employees, and Statkraft's ambition of being a European leader in environment-friendly energy is a fantastic ambition within which everyone can further develop. Our new employees shall feel that they are part of this ambition, and regard this as an exciting development," remarked Bård Mikkelsen.
