Since Statkraft operates on the basis of licences granted by the authorities, the company is subject to the EU regulations relating to public procurement in the so-called supply sectors.

The regulations stipulate a number of basic requirements regarding companies’ procurement processes:

• Procurement shall, as far as possible, be based on competitive tendering. Any deviation from this basic principle must be explained and documented.
• The entire procurement process shall be predictable, transparent and open to review.
• The selection of qualified tenderers and the awarding of contracts shall be undertaken on the basis of objective, non-discriminatory criteria.   

Statkraft shall at all times encourage – and make a positive contribution to – the establishment and development of new suppliers who can help increase the level of competition in and the quality of the supplier market.

Statkraft shall ensure that all suppliers are treated equally, by purchasing from suppliers who can offer the most economically advantageous solution – regardless of geographical location and local affiliation. Statkraft also wishes to help maintain viable local commercial interests by purchasing from competitive local and regional suppliers.
