Trainee programme
Statkraft has been running trainee programmes in various specialist fields since the autumn of 1999.
In addition to carrying out practical tasks at and in connection with our production facilities, training will be provided on Statkraft’s power systems and planning processes.
This trainee programme will be put together by the technical manager of the production division.
The trainee programme will run over two years, with periods of approximately six months spent at power plants, regional offices, the head office and the development division.
These requirements and intentions form the basis of the trainee programme:
- All trainees must have a set mentor throughout the entire period, in addition to a local technical manager
- Work will be divided into six-month-periods in each area; areas encompass apower plant group, regional technical staff, central technical staff and an elective area to be agreed (of which the development division is one possible alternative)
- This programme will give the trainees an understanding of the entire field of power production, as well as a knowledge of production and the market, particularly with regard to power optimisation.
- It is important to ensure that the trainees take part in carrying out practical tasks in the units in which they are placed
The training programme will include the following :
- A collective one-week induction course at the head office
- Internal training with regard to energy production and power trading
- Internal training with regard to production and maintenance optimisation
- An internal course on regional water systems and production units
- An internal course relating to environmental problems at Statkraft
- “In depth specialist studies” in a specific specialist field, to be agreed
- Participation in one of the training projects – with a focus on opportunities for training/ competence building in projects and/or in the workplace (for example, project management, project guidance, and guidance with regard to in depth specialist studies)
- Local training programmes at each practical unit
Quarterly gatherings will be be held at which the mentor and/or technical manager is also expected to participate. In the course of these gatherings, the trainees shall:
- Undergo training in presentation techniques
- Go on excursions to power plants based on alternative sources of energy, such as wind farms
- Go on supplier visits associated with relevant projects
