Large hydro certificates
Most of Statkraft’s own plants are large-scale hydro ones, and many of them can be considered as “pure engineering art”.
A life cycle study of a large-scale hydro plant shows that emissions are close to zero. The table below compares emissions from one of Statkraft’s large-scale hydro plants, Trollheim, with emissions from the average mixture of plants in three selected countries that utilise mainly non-renewable sources. The average emission from all Norwegian plants is also shown. The differences are considerable!
