Statkraft and the German energy company Mark-E have build a new and modern gas-fired power plant (CCGT) in Herdecke, Germany.
The gas-fired power plant in Herdecke, near Dortmund, is a 50-50 joint venture between Statkraft and the German energy company Mark-E. The joint venture agreement gives both parties equal control of the company. The co-owners have divided the plant's production capacity in accordance with their 50 per cent shareholding. 
The gas-fired power plant has a generating capacity of 400 MW. It is based on the best available technology in the areas of HSE and energy efficiency, and has an efficiency of at least 57.5 percent.
Construction work started autumn 2005 was completed autumn 2007.
