In August 2006 Statkraft presented an amended proposal for the wind farm in Fræna for which it had applied for a licence. The new proposal (version C) was drawn up at the request of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).

In its recommendation the NVE states that Fræna District Council and several other of the organisations consulted opposed the original wind farm proposal because they felt its impact would be negative. As a result, Statkraft has drawn up a new solution with fewer negative consequences, version C.

In addition to the actual wind turbines, the wind farm will involve the construction of new roads and power lines, as well as a new transformer at the heart of the facility.

Impact assessment
Impact assessments have been carried out with respect to the planned scheme, in line with the assessment programme determined by the NVE on 22 April 2003. The assessments have been carried out by independent consultants. In connection with the planning and assessment work, several consultation meetings have been held with Fræna District Council, the regional authorities and local population.
