Focus on energy, climate and sustainable development
For 2011, the Statkraft Fund, totaling NOK 5 million, was awarded to Norwegian People’s Aid, Norwegian Church Aid, Renewable World, Inland Norway Energy Agency, Grane Næringsutvikling and the Ny-Ålesund Symposium.
“This year’s allocations from the Statkraft Fund illustrate the broad range of work on energy and climate issues, both in Norway and internationally. This is in line with Statkraft’s contributions to solve climate challenges and develop more renewable energy, both in Norway, Europe and the rest of the world,” said Statkraft’s CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen, who awarded the prizes.
Projects that receive support from the Fund must fulfil the following criteria:
Target prioritised needs and challenges in local communities, aiming to improve and promote social development at an international, national, regional and local level.
Mainly take place in growth markets so that the funds can be used where they will have the greatest impact.
Involve partners such as international organisations, recognised international or local volunteer organisations, industry organisations, etc.
Have a clear connection to Statkraft’s activities, areas of expertise, presence and market.
Respect Statkraft’s code of conduct rules in project implementation.
Be sustainable, measureable, open and responsible, and keep administration expenses low.
The Statkraft Fund cannot be awarded to commercial enterprises.
This year’s awards will take place in late August/early September. The application deadline for 2012 will be announced in early 2012.
