Statkraft's ambition is to continue to grow and become a leading international company producing pure energy from renewable and climate-friendly power sources.
Since its inception in 1895 Statkraft has taken an exciting journey from being a Norwegian hydropower pioneer to becoming Europe's largest renewable energy company, with future-oriented businesses in more than 20 countries worldwide.
Today we have around 3 700 employees in Statkraft. We develop and produce hydropower, wind power, gas power and district heating. We are a global market player in energy trading, and we continue to plan renewable energy investments in Norway and abroad.
We have a long-term growth ambition and have a strategy that includes major investments in renewable energy in Norway, Europe and emerging markets in Asia and South America. This strategy is mostly focussed on hydropower and wind power, but we are also looking at opportunities in solar energy and biomass.
In many ways we are more innovative than ever before. The world has changed enormously since the Norwegian state purchased its first waterfall rights in Paulenfossen in Vest-Agder 120 years ago. It will continue to do so, and we see that the world's need for energy is constantly increasing.
We have over 100 years of experience as experts on pure energy. This will be a benefit for everyone, because the future is renewable.
