"The more successful we are in the US, the more the environment and natural resources will be benefited and saved"
Why did you choose Statkraft?
Statkraft is seen as a global leader in both renewable energy generation as well as the markets that surround it (i.e. carbon and renewable energy). The opportunity to bring this expertise to the US, showcase it, and make it a successful part of the company’s overall business practices is a true honor. For the past decade I have been focused on U.S. environmental markets, and when I heard of the company’s interest to expand into the U.S., I was encouraged by the opportunity to learn from such a strong and successful Markets team, and share with them my experiences to date. This tight collaboration should bode well for the US business.
What is your role today?
While I am the Managing Director of Statkraft US, I also wear the hat of: business development, IT, trading, HR, secretary, and admin, to name a few!
How is a typical day at work?
The importance of ongoing communication with the other Statkraft offices, (Oslo, Amsterdam, and Dusseldorf) cannot be overstated. Thus, I usually begin my morning at around 5:30/6am to make sure I can have ample time to overlap and converse with the offices, primarily Amsterdam and the Global Environmental Markets team. Once those calls and meetings are complete, it is usually around 8 am PST, and so it’s a perfect time to begin communicating with entities in California that we are working with as well as an array of environmental markets participants across the U.S. Days involve commercial activities and business development, as well as making sure that Statkraft US has the infrastructure and proper procedures in place to make the business a success.
What motivates you?
I candidly believe that the more successful we are in the US, the more the environment and natural resources will be benefited and saved.
