The power plant has a Francis turbine with an installed capacity of 75 MW and an annual average production of 280 GWh.

Grana uses a height of fall of 462 metres in a tributary of the Orkla River, from the reservoir Lake Granasjøen, which is regulated between 650 and 610 metres above sea level. The power plant also draws water from a variety of stream intakes. The plant was commissioned in 1982.

Grana power plant is part of Kraftverkene i Orkla (KVO). TrønderEnergi Kraft is the operator of the power plant.
