Kvinen power plant is located at Lake Høenvatn in Sirdal Municipality in Vest-Agder County, about midway between the two reservoirs Lake Øyarvatn and Lake Nesjen.
Ownership: Statkraft is an indirect co-owner through its ownership in Skagerak Energi, Agder Energi and Sira-Kvina kraftselskap
Production: 215 GWh
Power: 80 MW
The power plant was commissioned in 1981 and gets its operating water from the Kvinavassdraget watercourse.
The one generating unit at the plant has a Francis turbine. The installed capacity is 80 MW. The height of fall is 116 metres.
Production in Kvinen power plant is closely related to the operation of Roskrepp power plant upriver. Roskrepp produces power mostly only in the winter, which in practice means that Kvinen also has its greatest production at that time of year.
Through its ownership in Skagerak Energi AS, Agder Energi AS and Sira-Kvina kraftselskap, Statkraft is co-owner of this power plant. Sira-Kvina kraftselskap is responsible for daily operations, and manages the licences and obligations in terms of river management and regulating of the watercourse.
