Svorkmo power plant is located in the Orkla watercourse in Orkdal Municipality, Sør-Trøndelag County.
Ownership: 48.6 %
Production: 270 GWh
Power: 55 MW
The power plant uses a height of fall of 98 metres in the Orkla River from Bjørset in Meldal Municipality and down to Hongslo, downriver from the town of Svorkmo.
The power plant does not have its own reservoir aside from a smaller intake reservoir of about 20 000 cubic metres, but benefits from the larger reservoirs farther upriver. The water is transferred through a 15 km long head race tunnel to the plant at Hongslo.
The power plant has four Francis turbines with a total installed capacity of 55 MW. The plant has an annual average production of 270 GWh and was commissioned in 1983.
Svorkmo is part of Kraftverkene i Orkla (KVO). TrønderEnergi Kraft is the operator of the power plant.
