Skien Fjernvarme AS has its main plant in Mæla in Skien Municipality, Telemark County.

Ownership: Statkraft is an indirect owner of this plant through its ownership in Skagerak Energi AS
Production: 38 GWh
Power: 30 MW

The heating plant has two 6 MW biofuel boilers for wood chips, a 8 MW peak capacity boiler for oil/biofuel and a 10 MW reserve boiler for oil.

The plant's customers include public organizations and private businesses, as well as large residential complexes. The district heating is used to provide heat and hot water to a number of buildings in Skien.

Plans call for this plant to be expanded and when fully operational it will produce around 60 GWh in 2025.

Skagerrak Varme AS, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Skagerrak Energi AS, owns 51 per cent of Skien Fjernvarme AS.
