Statkraft CEO on panel discussion at “Europe 2021” event
On 4 February 2021 (1–1:45 pm), Statkraft CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen will take part in a panel discussion on “The Future of the European Energy Transition”.
As part of the digital event “Europe 2021”, he will discuss current developments and future possibilities with presenter and journalist Kathrin Witsch (Handelsblatt), Andreas Schierenbeck (Uniper), Dr. Brigitte Knopf (Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change), and Kristina Haverkamp (Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH).
The European energy transition
In the future, Statkraft CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen is certain, energy markets will be able to run entirely on renewable energy. It is already possible with today’s technology in hydropower-dominant markets. In markets with less hydropower, 80 to 90 % renewables are fully feasible. Within the next generation, any market can reach 100% renewables, he is confident. Statkraft is ready and well positioned for capturing values in the new energy landscape, as 100% of investments go into renewables.
A free, digital event for all
Europe 2021 is a digital event organised by the four German media outlets Die Zeit, Der Tagesspiegel, WirtschaftsWoche and Handelsblatt.
From 2 to 4 February, issues that move Europe in the year 2021 will be discussed: From strengthening democracies, European digital sovereignty, a common European internal market, to climate protection goals in the year of COP 26, the upcoming UN climate conference in Glasgow.
Among the speakers and panellists are politicians, journalists, and leaders like Dr. Katarina Barley, Vice President of the European Parliament, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister of Greece, and climate protection activist Greta Thunberg. Talks will be given in English and German.
