Permit issued for Statkraft’s first wind farm in Sweden!
The Environmental Testing Delegation has announced that Statkraft and SCA have been granted permit for the first of six wind farms planned in Norrland County. The permit is for Stamåsen, on the border between Sollefteå and Strömsund municipalities, and comprises 50 turbines. A decision regarding the remaining five wind farms is expected shortly.
”We are very pleased to receive the permit for the first wind farm. We will wait for permits to be issued for the other five farms before making a final decision to develop. We wish to see the complete picture before deciding which park to develop. Besides, the permit must enter into force, which happens about three weeks after the decision has been made,” Bengt Vernmark, head of Statkraft Wind in Sweden, says.
It is expected that the company boards will make an investment decision for the first wind farms in the first half of 2010. The first wind farm can come online in 2011 should no other issues arise.
