Andershaw Wind Farm moves into construction

06 Oct, 2015

Statkraft, Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy, has taken a final investment decision on Andershaw Wind Farm, a 36MW onshore project located in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

The project is Statkraft’s third onshore wind development in Scotland, and follows on from the successful construction of the 66MW Berry Burn Wind Farm, which became operational in 2014.

Construction of Andershaw is due to begin later this month, starting with work to construct the roads, turbine bases and substation, with the majority of the civil works expected to be complete by summer 2016. R J McLeod have been appointed to undertake the civils infrastructure works and Powersystems UK will undertake the electrical infrastructure works.

The project will use 11 Vestas V117-3.3 MW wind turbines and is expected to be fully commissioned in late 2016.  Once operational, Andershaw Wind Farm will make a valuable contribution to Scotland’s ambitious renewable energy targets, providing clean, green electricity to meet the needs of approximately 20,200 homes.
