Wind turbines on their way

Deliveries of 26 wind energy turbines for the Statkraft and SCA Stamåsen wind farm in Sollefetå and Strömsund municipalities in Sweden, started in July. The turbines will enter operation throughout the autumn of 2012 with a total installed capacity of 60 MW.

The first stage of the Stamåsen wind farm comprises 26 wind energy turbines which each have a capacity of 2.3 MW. The facility will have an installed capacity of 60 MW and is estimated to generate around 200 GWh annually. The Stamåsen wind farm will have 50 wind energy turbines and a total installed capacity of 115 MW when completed.

The deliveries require careful planning as the 55-metre, 12-tonne turbine blades are transported by road from Köphamnholmen to Stamåsen. The wind energy turbines will be 115 metres high, and the towers are delivered in sections which are assembled on site. The deliveries also include turbines and generators, as well as other items. Transports will continue throughout October.

The wind farm is developed and operated by Statkraft SCA Vind AB, which is owned 60-40 per cent by Statkraft and SCA.

The Stamåsen wind farm is one of seven wind farms planned by Statkraft SCA Vind AB in Jämtland and Västernorrland counties in Sweden. The license applications comprise a total of 490 wind energy turbines with a total power generation of 2 600 GWh. With the Stamåsen wind farm, Statkraft further strengthens its position as the largest European producer of renewable energy.
