A day in the life of an energy operator

Introduction​

"Hi, I am Siri, and I have been with Statkraft since 2020. My journey began in high school, where I studied electrical engineering and automation. During that time, I completed several internships with Statkraft, which eventually led to an apprenticeship as an energy operator. I earned my trade certificate on International Women’s Day in 2023, a milestone I will always remember."​

How a typical day starts​

"Most mornings begin with the team gathering at the office, often over a cup of coffee. We review the day’s plan and adjust as needed based on site conditions. Mondays start with a team meeting to reflect on the previous week and prepare for what is ahead. Our routines are shaped not just by schedules, but also by weather, seasons, and operational needs. While much of our work is on-site, we also use digital tools and remote monitoring to improve efficiency."​

No two days are the same​

"Each day brings new challenges. Tasks range from preventive maintenance and condition checks to troubleshooting and supporting upgrade projects. Our goal is to keep the power plants running smoothly and prepare them for future demands. Even though we are a small team, we collaborate closely, sharing knowledge, solving problems, and learning from each other. That is what makes the job both dynamic and rewarding."​
