East Claydon Greener Grid Park

East Claydon Greener Grid Park is a proposed project for a new Greener Grid Park on land near East Claydon Substation.

Should East Claydon Greener Grid Park get planning consented it will include two types of technology to support grid stability – a Battery Energy Storage System and Synchronous Compensators.

A Greener Grid Park is a facility with zero-carbon technology, like large flywheels and batteries, that provides stability services to the electricity grid, allowing more renewable energy (wind/solar) to be used without fossil fuels, essentially acting as a renewable energy buffer to prevent blackouts and balance supply and demand. They look like simple buildings (barns, warehouses) but house sophisticated machines that mimic traditional power plants' spinning turbines without emissions, reducing reliance on gas and coal.
