Climate contest winners go to San Francisco
The winners of the youth contest The Fight are currently on a week-long study trip to San Francisco to learn more about green technology. Statkraft sponsors the trip and is also traveling with the winners.
Teenagers aged 16 to 19 from all over the country took part in the contest for the best solutions to the climate and energy crisis. The contest was backed by Klimaløftet, Energy Norway and environmentalist group Nature and Youth.
The winners, who all are final-year students at upper secondary schools, are Sunniva Bratt Slette from Trondheim, Jonas Ersland from Stavanger and the group Green Tuxedo, also from Stavanger, consisting of Christian Elle, Vegard Dueland, Simen Midtbø, Jonas Romsbotn and Martin Tran.
Exciting schedule
The seven winners have an exciting and varied schedule ahead of them in California – perhaps the best place in the world to see what is happening in green and energy technology.
The trip includes visits to various environments within renewable energy and the environment in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, meetings with environmentalist groups and local authorities, as well as the media, and the university and research environment at Stanford University. Another central subject during the trip is the opportunities Norwegian businesses have in the American green tech market.
The Fight
The Fight is a national contest for teenagers aged 16 to 19 for contributions on how we can solve the climate and energy crisis. The contestants were free to choose between a number of presentation formats, and the submitted contributions include both film/video, text, blogs, animation, posters and music.
