Statkraft sponsors Munch in France
On Wednesday 21 September, the exhibition ”Edvard Munch – The modern eye” opens in the Pompidou centre in Paris, with Statkraft as the proud sponsor.
The exhibition of 140 of Edvard Munch's works will be on display in Paris until 9 January 2012, before moving on to Frankfurt, London and, ultimately, Oslo. Many of Munch's classic works are included, such as Vampire, Girls on the Bridge and The Sick Child. At the same time visitors can get to know less familiar sides of the artist.
During the preview on Sunday, Her Royal Highness Queen Sonja was present with the French Minister of Culture Frédéric Mitterand, the president of the Pompidou centre Alain Seban and the Director of the National museum of modern art, Alfred Pacquement. Statkraft was represented by chair Svein Aaser and communications director Bente E. Engesland.
"In addition to showcasing Munch's magnificent art, we want to promote Statkraft and our commitment to clean and renewable energy. Our hydropower history goes all the way back to when Munch was working. We also have a ”modern eye” for energy," says Engesland.
Statkraft is already Europe's largest player in renewable energy, and is now focusing on France. Statkraft aims to win hydropower licences in the announced auction that French authorities will hold over the next years, and recently opened an office in Lyon.
