Statkraft CEO honoured with sustainability award
Statkraft CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen was honoured for his commitment to the climate challenge at the Responsible Leaders Summit in New York City.
“I share this recognition with all my colleagues. In Statkraft, 3600 employees, all over the world, are working every day to provide clean energy, a precondition for a sustainable world. That is something that we are very proud of,” Rynning-Tønnesen said at the award ceremony which was held as part of the Responsible Leaders Summit at the United Nations in New York City on 1st May.
The Excellence in Sustainability Award was presented to Rynning-Tønnesen by The Centre for Responsible Leadership, an initiative assembling global thought leaders to find sustainable solutions to the major global challenges.
As CEO of Statkraft, Rynning-Tønnesen has been deeply committed to climate and energy issues. He has been hosting the Climate Roundtable, an international symposium bringing together experts from academia, business and non-governmental organisations to find solutions on climate change. Rynning-Tønnesen is among the 28 members of The Global Commission of Economy and Climate.
“Personally, I am deeply concerned about climate change. Both as a business leader and as a human being. As most of the greenhouse gas emissions are energy related, a transition to renewable energy is key in solving this crisis,” Rynning-Tønnesen said.
