Fatal accident in India
On Saturday, May 7th, a fatal working accident occurred at the Tidong Hydropower Project in India, where two employees of a local contractor lost their lives. The tragic accident happened in a pressure shaft under construction at the site.
The accident occurred when five workers were ascending the pressure shaft in a trolley. Three workers were rescued with non-critical injuries and were transferred to the local hospital for further checks. Tragically, two people died in the accident.
All work at the pressure shaft at the site, and with similar trolley and lifting activities, have been suspended until further notice. Statkraft has initiated a full internal investigation. The work is being carried out in cooperation with the local police and authorities.
Our thoughts go to the family and colleagues of the contractor employees. Statkraft is making the best efforts to ensure they get all the support and help needed in this difficult situation.
