The wind farm is an expansion of the 24 turbine Hitra wind farm, which has been in operation since 2004. The Hitra 2 wind farm consists of 26 turbines and has an installed capacity of 93.6 MW.

The wind farm is part of the Fosen Vind project, Europe’s largest onshore wind project. Construction started in 2018, and the wind farm has been operational since the end of 2019. Read more about the Fosen Vind project here.
